Compression cleanup workflow

Reduce compression damage before it dominates the image.

JPEG Artifact Remover targets block boundaries, ringing around edges, mosquito noise near text, and texture damage from repeated lossy exports. It prepares a cleaner working image while respecting the detail still present.

Artifact-specific cleanup

The workflow distinguishes compression patterns from ordinary grain and real texture.

Edge protection

Text, product labels, faces, and graphic boundaries remain central review areas.

Better working copy

Cleanup can prepare a source for moderate resizing, sharpening, or campaign export.

How compression damage appears

Look for square blocks, ripples near high-contrast edges, smeared fine texture, and crawling noise around text or logos. Screenshots and social-media downloads often contain more than one generation of these artifacts.

Use the original when possible

A camera file, design export, or original upload is better than any repaired copy. Artifact cleanup is most useful when the compressed file is the only available source.

Avoid over-smoothing

Strong cleanup can erase pores, fabric, foliage, and product texture. Compare important surfaces and keep a natural amount of detail rather than chasing a perfectly flat image.

Export once at good quality

Repeated lossy saving can reintroduce damage. Keep the enhanced download as a working master and create delivery versions from that file instead of recompressing copies repeatedly.
